Lieutenant General (Retired)

Lieutenant General Joseph DiSalvo retains a wealth of global expertise and over 30+ years of experience in planning and executing global-scale, mission-critical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance operations. His concentrations fall within international geo-political conflict zones in maritime, land and air with focus on the Middle East and Latin America. DiSalvo has extensive strategic knowledge of deploying elevated situational awareness for Homeland Security Border Protection in C4ISR environments.


WORK HISTORY & EXPERIENCE
Lieutenant General Joseph P. DiSalvo’s trusted experience in his last active duty role is particularly valuable to the development of TCOM’s elevated awareness programs. He most recently served as the Military Deputy Commander of U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida. Prior, he was the Commander of U.S. Army South, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. LTG DiSalvo has served in armored and mechanized units throughout his career, both in the United States and in Europe (7 years). He commanded the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. He was also the senior Brigade Trainer at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.

DiSalvo has served in key positions on the Army Staff and the Joint Staff where duties included analyses of the U.S. Army drawdown in the early 1990s. He was the Iraq Division Chief in the Joint Staff, focusing on the integration of interagency assets during the surge. Further, he served as Deputy Director for U.S. Homeland Defense and Western Hemisphere in the Joint Staff Plans and Policy Directorate, focusing on building partnership capacity. DiSalvo also held station as Chief of Staff, US Southern Command.

DiSalvo deployed to Bosnia as a Deputy Division G3 and aide to the Stabilization Forces Commander. He deployed to Iraq as a Brigade Combat Team Commander in Fallujah and later, Sadr City. There, he also served as the United States Forces-Iraq Deputy Chief of Staff, focusing on the transition of security responsibility to the Iraqi security forces.

EDUCATION

DiSalvo graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree. LTG DiSalvo holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
