Thomas Cole

Brigadier General (Retired)

Brigadier General (retired) Tom Cole has over 30+ years of proven leadership in the design and deployment of defense acquisition capabilities. Much of his career concentration focused on elevated situational awareness for C4ISR programs. Primary areas of support included intelligence, electronics, cyber warfare and sensors targeting capabilities at the highest level of the U.S. Department of Defense and in support of allied nations.

As TCOM expands internationally, Cole brings a broad range of expertise in the international defense acquisition process. He has senior level leadership and programmatic skills ranging from concept inception to integrated systems development, testing and evaluation, logistics, and final disposition of material. This comprises the total lifecycle of complex system capabilities deliverance. Cole has a strong foundation in leadership, ethics, setting vision and objectives, strategic planning, systems engineering, program integration, and developing personnel.


WORK HISTORY & EXPERIENCE

Cole previously served in the US Army as the Program Executive Officer for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO-IEW&S). His promotion to the rank of general officer and assignment as a PEO culminated 22 years of acquisition experience and positions of responsibility.

Additionally, Cole served as the Deputy Program Manager of Networks for Future Combat System (2005-2007). Assigned to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), he was the Deputy to the USSOCOM Acquisition Executive (2004-2005) and led technology development and program management efforts. As Project Manager Warfighter Information-Tactical (2001-2004), he was responsible for developing, acquiring, and fielding the Army’s largest communications capabilities. Cole worked in high level policy as the Deputy for Theater Missile Defense Systems (1999-2001) in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he directed major defense acquisition programs for theater missile defense.


EDUCATION

Cole is a graduate of the United States Military Academy class of 1979. He earned a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from San Diego State University (1987) and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (1999). He is also a graduate of the Advanced Program Management Course from the Defense Acquisition University (1996).
